True Vine Community
Approximately 1.5 million Syrian refugees have streamed over the Lebanon border since 2012. In Lebanon today, there is 1 refugee for every 4 nationals, making Lebanon’s refugee population the highest per capita in the world. Many of the refugee camps are scattered throughout the Bekaa Valley region of Lebanon which boarders Syria. Zahle is the capital of the Bekaa governate and has been affected greatly by the influx of people in their community. The needs of the refugee community greatly exceed the capacity and resources True Vine Church and other ministries can provide. The site is currently in the farming area of Zahle that is undeveloped, other than a few refugee homes near the property. The property is surrounded by the beautiful Lebanon mountains that truly evoke awe.
The site is intended to consolidate and expand the services True Vine are currently providing. The largest structure will be a school that will increase TVC’s capacity from 700 ½ time students today to 1500 full time students in the future. The hope of giving the children hope for the future is a main focus of the ministry. The property will also have a conference center campus that will include meeting rooms and guest houses. The hope is the conference center campus will generate revenue for the church and provide jobs for some of the refugees in their community. The initial project application requested the master plan include a resource distribution center, vocational training for teens and adults, and a new medical clinic.
A Conference Center shall share the site to accommodate conference events, visiting guests and quarters for foreign teachers. The main conference building shall have a large conference room for 200 people, smaller breakout conference and seminar rooms, a fitness center, kitchen and dining room serving 200, a café, and outdoor terraces.
