SIM Galmi hospital, located in the Sahel belt of southcentral Niger, is managed by SIM, an international and interdenominational Christian mission organization. The hospital began operation in 1950 and is now a referral center for central Niger and surrounding countries, and has grown to 160 beds, seeing up to 300 outpatients daily. It offers critical medical and spiritual care in an area where both are very limited. Galmi hospital is committed to the local people as both patients and employees with approximately 225 local staff.
SIM Galmi Hospital firmly believes in taking care of every patient who shows up at its gates which causes the facility to operate over capacity during high-volume season. The Masterplan is designed to increase the overall bed count from 180 beds to approximately 250 beds to aid the hospital in taking care of the number of patients it already has, reducing bed sharing.
