Multi-purpose ministry center
Mafraq, Jordan
The C&MA church in Mafraq is a small evangelical Christian church along the main street in downtown Mafraq, Jordan, near the border with Syria. With over 60,000 people living in the city of Mafraq and over 150,000 in the surrounding area, the church is desperately needed. After the conflict began in Syria in 2011, Mafraq became the entrance for refugees fleeing Syria. Now, over 15,000 refugees have moved to Mafraq, and the main refugee camp is only a few miles away.
IDD began a design for the church before the major influx of refugees, and the design focused on the vision God had given Pastor Nour for a new 4 story facility. In addition to more space for worship and teaching, the vision included more usable space or outreach to the local community. Pastor Nour did not realize that their new facility would quickly become the center for the welcoming and registration of thousands of Syrians as well as the distribution center for major international organizations and volunteers from around the world. Today the church continues to faithfully serve their Jordanian and Syrian neighbors by ministering to their spiritual and physical needs and boldly preaching, teaching, and demonstrating the Good News of Jesus Christ. |
