The Lebanese Society for Educational and Social Development (LSESD) is a Lebanese civil society organization led by Lebanese which exists to serve the Church in Lebanon and the Arab World. The LSESD site is located just a few kilometers from downtown Beirut, in an area called Mansourieh, that overlooks Beirut and the Mediterranean Sea. LSESD wants to renovate the current buildings and plan new facilities.
The LSESD Master Plan addresses space and building usage so that ministries could occupy spaces that are well-suited for their function. The design considers the following principles: Adapt and renovate existing buildings if they are structurally sound; Orient new buildings with the terrain to minimize excavation costs; Group land uses and provide buffering to gas station and neighbors; Preserve views from upper floors of existing buildings and create new view opportunities from new buildings; Provide vehicular road access to neighborhood. The new LSESD Master Plan will guide future growth by giving a comprehensive plan for the expansion or renovation of existing facilities and placement of new buildings on the site.
