Lillian Trasher
The Lillian Trasher children's home, which is situated near Assiut on the Nile, has been providing care for over 25,000 orphans for more than a century. The approximately 35,300 square meter complex includes sixteen structures for various purposes, including an administrative building, a school, a medical center, dormitories, a nursery, a chapel, and farm buildings.
The foundation's goal was to increase the property's capacity, move a few operations, and add a few additional services that would benefit the surrounding community.
IDD assisted the organization by supplying floor designs for both proposed and repurposed buildings, along with a full master plan including phasing. A wide group of engineers and architects from many fields visited the location, conducted a preliminary assessment of the infrastructure and buildings, evaluated the current condition of the property, and designed the long-term masterplan taking into account the facility's urgent demands.
