Ivato Theological
College Masterplan

Antananarivo, Madagascar
Established in 1968, FJKM, Madagascar's largest Protestant church, serves a third of the population with 6 million members across 5,000 congregations. FJKM tackles both spiritual and physical needs, from education and healthcare to agriculture and poverty relief.

The master plan aims for a campus of 1,000 students on this 17-hectare site. To do this, the college must create new infrastructure: water, sewer, electrical, and roads, to accommodate 33 new buildings and to ultimately house 2,500 students, professors, staff, and family members. This is a major task that can be accomplished over time. The masterplan uses the existing 15 buildings, but creates a central commons green at the high point of the campus. Classrooms, a chapel/auditorium, a dining hall/library, and residential structures housing students, professors, and staff will be placed around the common green.

Agriculture research and development is very important to the campus, and to the country. The proposed master plan layout has been designed to minimize impact to existing agriculture within the campus while achieving the goals outlined above.
