Hospital Baptiste Biblique Master Plan
Tsiko, Togo
Hopital Baptiste Biblique (HBB) was founded by Association of Baptists for World Evangelism (ABWE) in 1985 in Adeta, Togo. The purpose of HBB is to provide quality medical care in a manner that points patients to the Great Physician who demonstrated the greatest example of compassionate healing. The hospital has been training the locals not only to bring healing to bodies, but also to offer hope for eternity for fellow Togolese.
Since 1997, HBB has operated a nursing school. As part of its continuing vision for discipleship, HBB is now pursuing participation in a training program for surgeons: the Pan-African Academy of Christian Surgeons (PAACS). To become a PAACS center, certain facility requirements must be met. Also, HBB has identified necessary facility changes to accommodate continued growth in demand for its hospital and clinic services, increasing expat missionary staff, and an increased need for guest house services for short-term medical volunteers. Together, the facility needs above comprise the program for the Master Plan. Three of HBB’s guiding principles are discipleship, relationships, and Togolese leadership development. Accordingly, the Master Plan effort sought to create spatial opportunities that support these principles through focusing on spaces for both formal and informal interaction. Other Master Planning efforts focused on improving the experience of visitors and guests and their ability to navigate the site. Finally, Master Planning efforts focused on increasing the safety and functionality of the campus. |
