Harpur Memorial Hospital (HMH) was started as a clinic in 1910 by Dr. Harpur, an Irish physician. HMH now provides excellent, compassionate and low-cost full-service medical care in Menouf, Egypt to the underprivileged from villages across the Nile River Delta. HMH also serves as a training facility for young medical residents, surgeons, and nurses through PAACS (Pan-African Academy of Christian Surgeons) under the guidance of Dr. David Thompson. HMH has had rapid growth in recent years, particularly in the outpatient clinics and surgical services.
In partnership with an Egyptian Engineering firm, Hamza Associates, IDD designed a new 9 story Hospital in the location of the existing Clinic Building. Due to the densely populated campus, the new building was designed to be built in phases allowing for vertical expansion. IDD also served as the Owner's Technical Representation overseeing the production of the Construction Documents. Drawings were finished by Hamza, and licenses were obtained in 2016 and Construction of Phase One is set to begin in 2017.
