Emmanuel
Center

Cairo, Egypt

The Bethel-Emmanuel history begins in 1950 with a young woman who possessed a drive and passion unique to her time. To continue Ms. Lydia’s legacy, the Emmanuel Center needs to be redeveloped to take advantage of the desirable land it sits on. Located in the heart of downtown, the site is easily accessible to lower income ministries who want to rent a space for their meetings.

The site currently has two courtyards with lush trees that make Emmanuel an “Oasis in the heart of Cairo”. In addition to the various ministries offered, Emmanuel will be a sanctuary and refuge to people who desperately need to escape the chaos of the city. Emmanuel contains several meeting halls ranging from 15 to 150 seats, with an administration space, and a play court, all existing on the ground level.

This master plan accomplishes numerous tasks. It sets the vision for the board and helps prospective donors visualize the goal. It helps create a plan for infrastructure utilities, technology and service easements. When presented to city government, it opens up discussions regarding building and zoning permits. It also reassures the community of Emmanuel’s continued financial stability and that this Oasis is truly growing.
